In a village in Nigeria, a widow named N struggles to support her three children after losing her husband. Her eldest daughter, Nature, is exceptionally bright and excels in school. When Nature's aunt, Auntie CH, offers to take her to Lagos to provide better education and alleviate some of N's financial burdens, N reluctantly agrees, hopeful for a better future for her daughter.

However, upon arriving in Lagos, Nature's situation takes a turn for the worse. Instead of receiving the promised education, Nature is forced into the role of a housemaid. She endures long days of chores and is even made to hawk goods on the dangerous streets of Lagos. The bright future she had hoped for is overshadowed by the harsh realities of her new life.
