One thing I wish I knew before starting my e-commerce site is the importance of search engine optimization (SEO) and its impact on driving organic traffic and sales. SEO refers to the practice of optimizing your website and its content to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) for relevant keywords. It plays a crucial role in increasing visibility, attracting targeted visitors, and ultimately converting them into customers. Here are a few key reasons why understanding and implementing SEO strategies early on would have been beneficial: 1. Organic Traffic: SEO helps in driving organic traffic to your website, which is essential for long-term success. According to a study by BrightEdge, organic search drives 51% of all website traffic, making it the primary source of traffic for most websites. By optimizing your site's content, meta tags, URLs, and other elements, you can improve your chances of appearing higher in search results and attracting more potential customers. Example: Let's say you have an e-commerce site selling handmade jewelry. By optimizing your product pages with relevant keywords, creating informative blog posts about jewelry trends, and building high-quality backlinks, you increase the likelihood of ranking higher in search results. As a result, more people searching for jewelry-related keywords will discover your website, leading to increased organic traffic and potential sales. 2. Cost-Effectiveness: SEO is a cost-effective marketing strategy compared to paid advertising. While paid ads can bring immediate results, they require ongoing investments. On the other hand, SEO efforts, once implemented correctly, can continue driving organic traffic and conversions without additional costs. Example: Consider a scenario where you rely solely on paid advertising to generate traffic and sales for your e-commerce site. You may initially see a spike in traffic and sales, but as soon as you stop investing in ads, the traffic and sales will likely decline. However, if you had focused on SEO from the beginning, your site would have gained visibility in search results, resulting in a steady stream of organic traffic and sales even when you reduce or pause advertising spend. 3. Long-Term Sustainability: Building a solid SEO foundation early on helps establish your e-commerce site as an authoritative and trustworthy source in your niche. It takes time to earn search engines' trust and climb the rankings, but once achieved, it can provide long-term sustainability and a competitive advantage. Example: Let's say you started an e-commerce site selling organic skincare products. By consistently producing high-quality content, optimizing your site's structure, and earning backlinks from reputable sources, you gradually establish your site as an authority in the organic skincare industry. As a result, search engines recognize your site's credibility and reward it with higher rankings. This sustainable visibility and reputation help you stay ahead of competitors and attract loyal customers over time. To maximize the benefits of SEO for your e-commerce site, it's important to stay updated with industry trends, algorithms, and best practices. Resources like Moz (https://moz.com/), Search Engine Journal (https://www.searchenginejournal.com/), and Google's Webmaster Central Blog (https://webmasters.googleblog.com/) provide valuable insights and guidance on SEO strategies. In conclusion, understanding the significance of SEO and implementing effective strategies from the beginning can significantly impact the success of an e-commerce site. It helps drive organic traffic, reduces reliance on paid advertising, and establishes long-term sustainability and authority in your niche.

FB ads and finding your COA as well as focusing on CLTV. Google works for products but it depends on what industry they are in.

Make your site as straight forward as possible, the average customer is not that intuitive. Also make it super easy to checkout on the site. Show off the benefits and for God sake have a blog. Organic accounts for 70% of my traffic, no paid ads and generates at least 6 figures a year.

I wish I'd known more about shipping efficiently and affordably. You learn fast what works best for your products, but definitely shop around a bit for rates.
